What people ask before they buy
Will it fit my car?
It's a universal fit sized for a standard rear bench — [WIDTH]" wide by [LENGTH]" deep, with [FLAP]" side flaps. That covers the large majority of sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans and crew-cab trucks.
The measurement that matters is the width of your rear bench from door to door. Measure it, compare it to the number above, and if you're within a couple of inches you're fine — the straps take up the slack. Still unsure? Email us your year, make and model and we'll tell you straight.
Can a person still sit in the back seat?
Yes, and this is the question people ask us most. Unclip the strap on one side and fold that half of the cover over toward the middle. You get a normal seat back, and the seat belt is still reachable through the belt slots. Your dog keeps the other half.
It takes a few seconds and you don't have to take the whole thing out of the car.
Will a child's car seat still fit next to it?
In most vehicles, yes — fold one side down as described above and install the car seat through the belt slots or over the cover, depending on your car seat's manual.
One thing we won't do is tell you it's guaranteed. Child restraint fitment varies by vehicle and by seat, and your car seat manufacturer's instructions come first, always. If you try it and you're not happy with how it sits, that's exactly what the 60-day return is for.
How big a dog will it hold?
The base is rated to [WEIGHT] lbs, which comfortably covers one large breed or two mid-size dogs. Weight isn't really the limit — the limit is footprint. A single big dog lying down uses roughly two-thirds of the surface.
The base plates are what make this work for heavy dogs. Fabric-only covers sag under concentrated weight in the middle, which is exactly where a dog puts theirs.
Is it actually waterproof, or just water-resistant?
The seating surface is waterproof — there's a bonded waterproof layer behind the outer fabric, so drool, wet fur, rain, mud and accidents sit on top instead of soaking through to your seat.
Being straight with you: the seams and the belt slots are stitched, not welded. A gallon of water dumped in one spot and left overnight can eventually find a stitch line. Wipe up standing liquid and you'll never see it happen.
Is the hard bottom uncomfortable for my dog?
"Hard bottom" describes the structure, not the surface. The rigid plates sit inside the cover, underneath a quilted padded layer — so what your dog actually lies on is padded fabric over a flat, stable base.
Dogs generally settle faster on this than on a sling cover, because they're not constantly adjusting their footing. If your dog is older or has joint issues, a folded blanket on top makes it plusher still.
Will it damage or scratch my seats?
No. The underside is a soft non-slip backing designed to grip cloth, vinyl and leather without abrading it, and nothing adhesive touches your interior. It anchors to headrests and the seat crease, not to the upholstery itself.
Worth noting: leaving any seat cover on hot leather for months without ever removing it can leave a temporary impression. Pull it out when you wash it and that's a non-issue.
How do I clean it?
Day to day: brush the fur off with a rubber glove or a pet brush, and wipe spills with a damp cloth.
After a muddy or beach trip: pull it out, hose it down outside, and hang it in the shade to dry.
Deep clean: pull the base plates out first, then machine wash cold on gentle with a mild detergent. Air dry only. No bleach, no tumble dryer, no high heat — heat is what kills the waterproof layer on every cover in this category.
What if my dog claws or chews it?
The outer fabric is scratch-resistant and handles normal claws, climbing in and out, and the occasional anxious scramble. It is not chew-proof, and no cover at any price is.
If a strap, buckle, zipper or seam fails on its own, that's a defect and we'll replace it. If your dog decides it's a chew toy, email us anyway — we can usually help with a discounted replacement rather than pretending it didn't happen.
How long is shipping, and what if I want to return it?

Returns are 60 days from delivery. Email us with your order number, we send a prepaid label, you drop it off, and the refund goes back to your original payment method within a few business days of it reaching us. Used and washed covers are fine — you can't judge one of these without actually using it.
